Our Mission Statement

  1. To stop ableism by starting Stop Ableism in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Ableism is a set of practices and beliefs that assign inferior value (worth) to people who have developmental, emotional, physical or psychiatric disabilities.

  2. To initiate, improve, and promote equal access for people with physical disabilities to services, transportation, buildings, businesses, stores, and services in Guelph by suggesting to operators of such enterprises to install a wheelchair accessible door into their establishments.

  3. To cultivate the treatment of people with physical disabilities with the same respect and consideration that able-bodied people seem to receive in Guelph’s society.

  4. To remove attitudinal and systemic barriers that persons with physical disabilities must handle on a daily basis by educating and talking with able-bodied people where we meet them in the daily pursuit of our lives.
